Kelly’s Kritters is run by Kelly herself. Kelly is dedicated to her small business, her clients, their pets, their homes and to her staff. This dedication translates in a level of pet care and customer service that exceeds that of many other pet sitting companies.  This is her passion.

Your pet stays at home where they feel most comfortable and secure. Your pet is not exposed to other pets and disease as is the case in a kennel.

Our sitters are certified in Pet CPR and Pet First Aid and have all passed a thorough background check. We have a team of professional pet sitters so if your scheduled sitter has an illness or emergency, we can quickly reassign your visits to one of our other capable sitters.

Kelly’s Kritters sitters are employees who have passed a background check and are under our bonding and liability insurance. We are loving, dependable and trustworthy!

Your home is more secure while you are away, it has that lived in look.

Most importantly, your pet receives lots of love and personal attention while you are away.

We have experience caring for all kinds of pets, including dogs (puppies to seniors), cats (shy cats are not an issue), bunnies, guinea pigs, hamsters, reptiles, fish, birds and hermit crabs.  Please call if you have any questions.   630-244-5639

Yes, Kelly’s Kritters is insured and bonded by Pet Sitters Associates.  Certificate of Coverage available upon request.

Just give us a call at 630-244-5639 or complete our contact form and we will give you a call to set up your complimentary meet & greet.

WHAT HAPPENS WHEN I CALL KELLY’S KRITTERS?2020-05-26T13:48:56+00:00

Kelly or the supervisor on duty will answer the phone. If they are unavailable at the time someone will call you back within the next few hours. Kelly will ask about your pets and your home as well as the dates you will need our service. You will have the opportunity to ask any questions you may have. When you are ready, we will set up an appointment for a meet & greet with you and your pet(s).

WHAT HAPPENS AFTER THE INITIAL CALL?2020-05-26T13:48:51+00:00

You will receive an email confirming your upcoming meet & greet as well as an invitation to create your profile in our pet sitting portal.  Please complete your profile at least 2 days before your meet & greet so that Kelly can become familiar with your instructions.  Please be thorough as your pet sitters will be using this info to care for your pets and home.

WHAT HAPPENS AT THE MEET & GREET?2020-05-26T13:48:41+00:00

Kelly will come to your home at the agreed upon time to meet you and your pet(s).  During this visit you will get to know Kelly and have a chance to ask any questions you may have. Kelly will ask some questions as well, and find out where everything is located (food, leashes, medications, alarms).  Kelly will collect 2 keys that have been tested and you will sign a service agreement.

DO I HAVE TO SIGN A CONTRACT?2020-05-26T13:48:14+00:00

Yes, we have a service agreement.  This is a signed agreement that you agree to let us into your home to care for your pets, and that you are aware of and agree to our policies and procedures.  You will sign our service agreement at the meet & greet.

MUST I GIVE YOU MY HOUSE KEYS FOR SERVICE?2021-11-10T17:40:05+00:00

Yes. We require 3 sets of keys that have been tested.

If you have a keypad, we will still require at least one key in the event of power outages or malfunctions.  We have had clients’ keypads malfunction but were still able to complete services because we had a backup key.

CAN I TRUST KELLY’S KRITTERS WITH MY HOUSE KEYS AND MY HOME?2020-05-26T13:47:58+00:00

YES!  Kelly’s Kritters employees are background checked prior to employment and all are covered under our insurance and bonding. Our vehicles do not have company insignia; therefore, people are not alerted to the fact that you are not home.  All keys are labeled with a code, never your name or address. Our sitters are familiar with alarm systems and work them frequently.

HOW WILL I GET MY KEYS BACK IF I MOVE OR DISCONTINUE SERVICE?2020-05-26T13:47:50+00:00

We will be happy to mail your keys upon your request. There will be a $5 fee to mail the keys. If you need the keys to be dropped off, we can arrange that as well and a $15 trip charge will apply.

WHAT DO YOU DO ON A PET SITTING VISIT?2020-05-26T13:47:44+00:00

We tailor each visit to the pet’s individual requirements and needs. Our pet sitting visits include:
Feeding per your instructions
Fresh water
Walks dogs if requested
Love & play time
Litter box scooped
Medication administration, if needed

Trash /recycle taken to curb and brought back in after pick up
Mail and newspaper retrieved
Plants watered (extra charges may apply for excessive watering)
Lights/blinds rotated

HOW LONG DO SITTERS STAY FOR A VISIT?2020-05-26T13:47:34+00:00

You can choose 30 minute visits, 45 minute visits, 60 minute visits and even overnight visits.

WHAT TIMES DO YOU COME TO MY HOME?2020-05-26T13:46:24+00:00

We operate on time windows and will come at each window you request.

Breakfast   8am – 10am

Midday 11am – 2pm

Afternoon 2pm – 4pm

Dinner   4pm – 6pm

Bedtime 8pm – 10pm

WHAT IS OVERNIGHT PET SITTING?2020-05-26T13:46:16+00:00

One of our pet sitters will spend the night in your home. They will even sleep with your pet if the pet wishes. They will spend at least 10 hours in your home between the hours of 8pm & 8am.   They will return for a 30 minute midday vist and again for a 30 minute dinnertime visit.

We do not board pets in our homes. We do provide daily visits for your pets or we can stay overnight as well.
We will customize a schedule to fit your pet’s needs. Your pets will be much happier in their own home, completely stress free!

CAN YOU ADMINISTER MEDICATIONS?2020-05-26T13:45:53+00:00

Yes, we have staff trained in administering medications. However, your pet must be open to letting someone new administer medications.

WILL I ALWAYS HAVE THE SAME SITTER?2020-05-26T13:45:45+00:00

Kelly’s Kritters operates as a team.  All of our sitters are employees and undergo background checks and continuous training. The team concept ensures availability when you need it.

CAN I REQUEST A SPECIFIC SITTER?2020-05-26T13:45:39+00:00

Kelly’s Kritters makes every effort to accommodate our customers’ requests, however, due to availability your preferred sitter may not be available. All our sitters are employees and undergo background checks and continuous training.

WHAT IF I HAVE A WALK SCHEDULED AND IT IS RAINING?2020-05-26T13:45:27+00:00

We walk rain or shine, barring lightning, tropical storms & hurricanes.  If it is storming, we will take your pup out for a potty break and then play & cuddle inside.  We will use the towels you provide to dry them off when we come back in.

WHAT HAPPENS IN EXTREME HEAT?2020-05-26T13:45:07+00:00

Extreme heat is dangerous for your pet.  We will cut the walk short and spend the remainder of time inside playing & cuddling.

WHAT HAPPENS IF THERE IS SEVERE WEATHER?2020-05-26T13:44:57+00:00

Kelly’s Kritters requests the name and phone number of a person living nearby. If our sitter is physically unable to reach your home due to impassable roads, we will contact that person. Your pets’ health and well-being is of our utmost concern and we will contact you as soon as possible to keep you informed of these events. This is pertaining to snow, hurricanes, and severe storms. Kelly’s Kritters will continue service as soon as it is safe to do so.

WILL MY DOG BE WALKED IN A GROUP WITH OTHER DOGS?2020-05-26T13:44:08+00:00

No. We do not walk your dog with other client’s dogs. Your dog(s) get our undivided attention.  We feel that group walks are dangerous for both the dogs and our walkers. If you own 2 dogs that normally walk together, we will walk them together.

WHAT ARE YOUR EMERGENCY PROCEDURES?2020-05-26T13:43:57+00:00

If there is an emergency with your home, we will contact you immediately for instructions on how to handle the situation.  If we can not reach you, we will call your secondary contact and emergency contacts.

If there is an emergency with your pet our sitters are Pet CPR  & Pet first aid certified.  In the even that your pet needs more help than we can provide we will rush them to the nearest vet and call you on the way.

WILL I RECEIVE A REFUND IF I LEAVE LATER THAN EXPECTED OR RETURN EARLY?2020-05-26T13:43:49+00:00

No, please understand that we have made time for your visits and may have turned other people down to allow time for your pets. We appreciate your understanding in this matter.

Gratuity is never expected but is always appreciated.  Your sitters are dedicated to the care of your pets and your home. Your sitters will receive 100% of any gratuity.  You can add a tip to the invoice total.

DO YOU PROVIDE TRANSPORTATION TO AND FROM VETERINARIANS AND GROOMERS?2020-05-26T13:42:57+00:00

Yes. We provide pet taxi service to and from veterinarians, groomers or wherever you pet needs to go.  You must provide a pet carrier for cats, or other small animals.  Rates are based on time spent.  Call for a quote.
